The inaugural Research for Greener Surgece is being held on the University of Birmingham campus in the Great Hall at 10am-5pm on Wednesday, 13 December 2023. The conference focusses on decarbonising operating theatres both in the NHS and globally.
The conference will include talks by Professor Lucy Chappell (CEO of the NIHR), Professor Hugh Montgomery (co-chair, Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change), Dr Abdul Ghaffar (founder, WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research), and Dr Jessamy Bagenal (Senior Executive Editor, The Lancet). We will also be launching DRAGON, an international cluster randomised controlled trial (28,000 patients, 134 hospitals) which will be the first-ever (surgical) trial with a triple endpoint (clinical, cost, carbon). DRAGON will test reusable versus single-use gowns and drapes in theatre.
You can register here (conference free with £30 refundable deposit): https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/research-for-greener-surgery-conference-2023-free-tickets-600946616507.
