DEFINITE: Prospective Audit of Diabetic Foot Debridement in Theatre

Patients with diabetes mellitus have a high risk of developing a diabetic foot ulcer, which is associated with an increased risk of infection and can result in amputation and mortality. There are evidence based guidelines on the management of diabetic foot ulcers, including debridement in theatre.

Supported by the Diabetic Foot SIG and set up by the Vascular and Endovascular Research Network (VERN), the DEFINITE Audit aims to evaluate current in theatre surgical practice around the management of the diabetic foot infection and whether adherence to guidelines results in better patient outcomes.
