ASPIRE Venous Course
25th November
1000-1745
The Edge Hub, Hull
Course Directors - Miss Emma Wilton and Miss Hayley Moore
Join our immersive, hands-on course designed for vascular surgical trainees and early stage consultants aiming to gain skills in the management of superficial venous disease, with a focus on both thermal and non-thermal ablation techniques.
This simulation-based training offers a unique opportunity to build competence, confidence, and clinical judgment.
This course bridges the gap between theory and practice, emphasizing patient selection, risk assessment, equipment handling, post-operative care and complication management.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the pathophysiology and classification of superficial venous disease, including CEAP staging.
- Select appropriate patients for thermal vs. non-thermal treatment based on clinical and duplex findings.
- Demonstrate proficiency in ultrasound-guided cannulation of the great and small saphenous veins.
- Perform key steps of thermal ablation techniques (RFA, EVLT) using simulation models.
- Apply non-thermal techniques effectively, including foam sclerotherapy.
- Outline post-procedural care protocols, including return to activity advice after vein treatment and relevant vascular procedures (e.g., post-arterial dissection care).
Ideal for vascular trainees (ST3–ST8), SAS doctors, and early career consultants seeking structured hands-on experience.
